Elon Musk, President Trump and Tim Cook have taken to going direct to their followers and shunning the media; will this strategy work for your company? This week Elon Musk let his internal PR department disintegrate and will be now be the CTO (Chief Twitter Officer). I consider the impact of this one man marketing machine approach by looking at the role of the media, the creation of a cohort of evangelists, and the benefits to smaller companies of going down the path of these celebrity leaders.
